China, officially known as the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a socialist republic country in East Asia. Power in China is concentrated in the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, the State Council, and the President of the PRC.

The Central Committee is the highest party organization in China, consisting of over 200 members who are elected every 5 years. The General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party is usually the de facto leader of the country, and holds a lot of influence over policy decisions.

The State Council is the chief administrative authority of the country, overseeing the work of the government ministries and agencies. The Premier of the State Council is the head of government in China, responsible for implementing the policies of the Central Committee.

The President of the PRC is the head of state, representing the country in international affairs. The President is elected by the National People's Congress, which is the highest organ of state power in China.

China operates under a one-party system, with the Chinese Communist Party being the only legal political party in the country. The party holds a monopoly on power, with no opposition parties allowed to function.

The current leader of China is Xi Jinping, who became General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party in 2012 and President of the PRC in 2013. Xi has consolidated power in recent years, instituting reforms to strengthen the party’s control over all aspects of Chinese society.

Overall, power in China is held by a small group of elite party members who make decisions on behalf of the country. The government operates with a high degree of centralization and control, with the party overseeing all major policy matters.
